CalPERS seeks private equity co-investment director

California Public Employees’ Retirement System is searching for an investment director to lead its private equity co-investment program, according to a job posting for the $488.6 billion pension plan.
The new hire would report to Greg Ruiz, a managing investment director, who leads Sacramento-based pension fund’s $44 billion private equity investment program. The person would lead and monitor the co-investment team and oversee the strategic development, implementation and execution of the co-investment program, the posting said.
The posting is located at here. The final filing date is Dec. 15.
CalPERS is expanding its private equity portfolio. The board in November increased its private equity allocation by 5 percentage points to 13%.
In September 2020, CalPERS hired another private equity investment director, Yup Kim, to assist with private equity strategy, team management and investments. Mr. Kim came from the $82.7 billion Alaska Permanent Fund Corp., Juneau, where he had been a senior portfolio manager.
The new investment director would work alongside Mr. Kim.
